General Product Questions
What types of disconnect switches does Telergon offer?
Telergon offers fusible and non-fusible AC disconnects, compact AC disconnects, heavy-duty and compact DC disconnects, manual changeover switches, automatic transfer switches, cam switches, and related disconnect accessories. Available current, voltage, pole, mounting, and operating configurations vary by product series.
What is the difference between a fusible and non-fusible disconnect?
A non-fusible disconnect provides load switching and circuit isolation but does not provide overcurrent protection by itself. A fusible disconnect combines the disconnecting function with fuses, allowing the installed fuses to provide overcurrent and short-circuit protection. The appropriate choice depends on the circuit design, required protection, available fault current, and applicable codes and standards.
Does Telergon offer both open and enclosed disconnects?
Yes. Telergon offers open disconnects for installation inside control panels and other equipment, along with selected enclosed configurations. Enclosure material, NEMA / UL Type rating, IP rating, handle style, and mounting arrangement vary by product series and model.
Certifications and Standards
What UL standards apply to Telergon disconnect products?
Applicable UL standards depend on the product type, series, and intended application. Telergon products are available with certifications including UL 98, UL 98B, UL 508I, UL 508, and UL 60947-1 / UL 60947-4-1, depending on the model. UL certification should always be verified for the specific part number. Current UL information is available through UL Product iQ using the applicable Telergon UL file number.
Do Telergon products comply with international standards?
Many Telergon disconnect products are designed to IEC 60947-3, while automatic transfer switches are designed to IEC 60947-6-1. Applicable IEC, CSA, UL, and other certifications vary by product series and model. Verify the published technical data for the specific product and application.
What enclosure and environmental ratings are available?
Available environmental ratings depend on the product, enclosure, external operator, and installation configuration. Selected products and accessories are available with NEMA / UL Type 4 or 4X and IP-rated configurations. The complete installed assembly should be selected and installed to maintain the environmental rating required for the application.
Applications and Use
Can Telergon disconnects be used in renewable energy systems?
Yes, when the selected product is properly rated and certified for the application. Telergon heavy-duty DC disconnects are available with UL 98B certification for photovoltaic applications, while F7 compact DC disconnects are available with UL 508I certification. Products for battery and energy-storage applications should be verified separately for the specific system, ratings, and certification requirements.
Are Telergon disconnects suitable for OEM and control-panel integration?
Yes. Telergon offers compact and panel-mounted disconnects, fusible and non-fusible options, cam switches, and operating accessories intended for integration into OEM equipment and industrial control panels. Product selection should consider the circuit location, voltage, current, SCCR, operating function, mounting method, and applicable panel requirements.
Can Telergon products be used on both AC and DC circuits?
Telergon offers products specifically rated for AC applications and products specifically rated for DC applications. A switch should only be used at the voltage, current, circuit configuration, and application ratings published for that specific model. Do not assume an AC-rated product has an equivalent DC rating, or vice versa.
Installation and Operation
Do Telergon disconnects provide clear ON-OFF indication and isolation?
Telergon disconnects provide defined operating positions and are designed for circuit switching and isolation at their published ratings. Operator style and position indication vary by product series and configuration. Verify the specific product documentation when an application requires a particular isolation, indication, or operating feature.
Are Telergon handles lockable for lockout/tagout applications?
Many Telergon direct and external operator handles include padlockable OFF positions for use as part of a lockout/tagout procedure. Locking features vary by handle and switch series. Verify the specific handle configuration and follow the facility’s established lockout/tagout procedures and applicable safety requirements.
Can a Telergon disconnect be mounted in any orientation?
Permitted mounting orientations depend on the product series, frame size, operator arrangement, and application. Follow the installation instructions and dimensional information for the specific model rather than assuming that every disconnect can be installed in any orientation.
Technical and Support Information
Where can I find datasheets, drawings, installation instructions, and CAD files?
Available technical documents are provided on the applicable product detail pages. Depending on the product, these may include datasheets, 2D drawings, 3D CAD models, installation instructions, brochures, and certification documents. Contact Telergon USA if a required document is not shown online.
Does Telergon provide information for SCCR and UL 508A panel design?
Yes. Published product data includes SCCR and other electrical ratings where applicable. These ratings can be used by qualified panel designers when evaluating the completed panel under UL 508A. The panel SCCR depends on the complete power-circuit design and component application, not on the disconnect rating alone.
How can I get technical help selecting a product?
Contact Telergon USA with the application voltage, current, AC or DC circuit type, pole configuration, required certification, mounting method, environmental requirements, and any available drawings or photos. Providing the application details and existing part numbers helps us identify the most appropriate product or accessory.

Does Telergon USA stock products domestically?
Yes. Telergon USA maintains inventory of many commonly requested products and accessories in the United States. Stock status changes as orders are received, and some configurations are supplied from the factory. Contact Telergon USA or request a quote for current availability and lead time.
Can Telergon supply custom configurations?
